My name is Nicole and I'm the founder of NK Creative Studios. I'm a lifestyle photographer based in Ottawa, Ontario specializing in natural light portrait photography. Growing up, I knew one day I wanted to do something that was creative and would be beneficial to others. Never in my wildest dreams did I think photography would allow me to meet so many amazing people! This career path is truly a dream come true.
I like simplicity when it comes to photography.
In my camera bag, you’ll find one camera and 1-2 lenses,
but I’ll probably only use one of them. I use primarily natural light and urge all of my clients to do their photos around sunset during golden hour (trust me, you’ll thank me later).
I like to photograph my clients being themselves so I tend to avoid overly posed images.
I am very passionate about photography and love creating beautiful photographs that families will cherish for the rest of their lives. One day you will look back and wonder how time went by so quickly. But with beautiful photographs, you can look back and remember all of the wonderful times you shared with your family.
I met the love of my life, Alex, back in the summer of 2014, and after nearly 6 months of wooing me, Alex won me over and exactly 1 year later, asked me to be his wife.
In the summer of 2016, I went from having one of the most common last names (Smith) to one that I constantly have to pronounce and spell (Wiegelmann). Even though it takes twice as long to sign my name, every time I do, I’m reminded of the fact that I’m married to the sweetest man I know, who also happens to be my best friend.
Alex is a very important part of NK Creative Studios. Without his calming nature, I would constantly be stressed and probably would have broken several computers by now (ugh, technology).
Crazy Dog Mom
I am one of those crazy dog people who considers their dogs to be their children (Yes, I do consider myself a Dog-Mom and my dogs to be fur-babies). I have a different voice for talking to them and I believe they understand everything I say. I vent to them about my day and when I'm sad, they give me kisses (cute but gross since they definitely need breath mints).
I have more photos of the two of them than anything else and I’m totally okay with that. My phone storage is almost always full and I'm constantly deleting pictures of them since I tend to take photos of everything they do. I'm definitely that person that asks "Do you want to see photos of my dogs?" and regardless of your answer, I'll show you photos.
Feel free to ask to see videos of Max howling like a siren and Piper in the bathtub –
I’ll happily oblige and you will not be disappointed.
If you dislike or are allergic to dogs, please let me know in advance and we'll plan to meet at a coffee shop instead of at the studio (since the studio is my house and the dogs live there). :)
